You CAN get replacement spoons and bottles - from Hasbro.
By majormusiclover
There are many ways a child can enteract with Baby Alive which makes this a very entertaining toy.
Most any child is bound to love the doll's delightful BIG eye's.
Baby Alive says approx 25 pharses, by pressing her bracelet.
And approx 10 others which are activated only by her spoon or bottle.
Those pharses are particularly about her eating, changing her diaper, ect.
If you loose the spoon and bottle, you loose those pharses.
BUT - when I phoned Hasbro I found out you can get replacement spoons and bottles.
Their phone # is on the box, it's amazing how good their service is.
Spoon's cost 50 cent's each, and bottle's cost $1.25 each, with free S&H.
They do charge tax if applicable. I ordered 2 of each which totaled $3.71.
They said we'd receive the order in seven to ten days.
You can also order other item's for this doll, direct from Hasbro.
As soon as she's fed she'll need her diaper changed.
She "pee's" and "poop's", in other words -- the food and liquid go straight through her.
This is a very messy process that is ment to be educational,
but the clean-up will require adult supervision.
Her hair is soft and curly and is not ment to be washed.
If you get food in her hair you're to wipe it off with a dry cloth.
Nor can she be submerged in water, that would ruin the voice box in her belly.
When Baby Alive is laid down for a nap her eye's close,
and automatically open when she sets up again.
The doll comes dressed in a cute pink and green washable dress, and wearing a diaper.
She has a matching bib and one spare diaper.
She has a bottle, bowl and spoon, and 2 packets of food.
Two AA batteries and instructions are included.
This doll kit is meant for at least three years old and older.
One drawback I see to this doll kit is that you're suppose to use only Baby Alive doll food.
Hasbro's Baby Alive doll food and diapers super refill pack seems rather pricey at around twenty-four dollars.
This is a high maintenance doll, that is perhaps better suited for a bit older child.
After inspecting the doll from both ends with a small flash light
it is clear that there is simply a channel from the dolls mouth to her bottom.
All thin liquids run straight through.
In addition to Hasbro brand food and diaper's, we intend on improvising.
This isn't rocket science, there shouldn't be any problems.
If all the food is as thin as Hasbro's food,
and your final rinse is completely clear to keep the doll sanitary.
Hasbro instructions mention to not let their food set and get dryed out or it may get stuck.
They don't say how to get it un-stuck.
Maybe lots of water to soften and or air blown through would do the trick?
After all this is a toy not a collectable doll.
We feel our grand-daughter should be able to play with this toy without breaking the bank.
No matter how you choose to feed and cloth the doll,
Baby Alive provides a wonderful pretend world of caring and conversations.
Update: We received the spoons and bottles as stated above on Sept 9, 2011.
Our order took a little longer then expected (16 days total),
but we're still very happy Hasbro made those items available.

Potty doll
By Bobbie - "Andromeda's Grandma"
We are currently using this doll in a way that it is not intended - we are calling it potty doll and showing our granddaughter what the potty is for. We give her the bottle while sitting her on the potty, and magically, potty doll uses the potty chair in a way that can be seen.
For those looking for a doll that both eats, drinks, and has to be changed (and tells you when it happens), this one works great. You do have to give her a bottle of water after the food, to rinse her out, and she only comes with one extra diaper and food, so plan on buying more.
She also makes slurping sounds when she eats, which makes things realistic.
Very natural, but with a few features like cleaning a stinky diaper that I'm no too sure I would have enjoyed as a small child.

Technical review only - actually, fairly traditional doll
By Kilgore Gagarin
This is a technical review of Hasbro's "My Baby Alive Doll (Blonde)." Hasbro has a line of different dolls with different features and capabilities and this review will address the features specific to this product only. The rating of 3 stars is meant as a "neutral" ranking not meant to endorse or disparage the product.
Summary: Solid doll with 10 toes and 10 fingers, does what it says, isn't an animatronic robot with moving eyes and lips. It wasn't creepy to me (as some critics have mentioned). Just a pretty good talking doll that poops if you want it to do so.
This doll looks similar to the "My Real Baby" but does not have the same animatronic moving lips and blinking eyes. If you see video on the Internet of a realistic talking and blinking "Baby Alive" this is NOT that doll. Nothing in this "My Baby Alive Doll (Blonde)" moves electronically.
The weight of the doll itself is about 2 pounds and has a nice, solid feel to it. It balances easily in a sitting position on a hard surface - sits there, looks cute, babbles at you, and won't tip over. The eyes are weighted rocker types which means when the doll is held horizontal, the eyes are closed. When the doll is upright, the eyes are open. The doll's speaking behavior does not change when positions change (e.g., laying the doll down does not make it automatically sleep).
When the doll is turned to the ON position with the switch on her back, nothing will happen. You have to press the button on its wrist band to get it talking and emitting phrases from its 30 phrase library - "Hi! Is it play time?" If you do nothing for about 1 minute, it stops interacting and goes quiet. If your child walks away and leaves the doll on, it will just go dormant.
An alternative to pressing the wrist band is to place the supplied spoon or bottle in the doll's mouth which will start her slurping. IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not lose the supplied spoon or bottle. They are the only things that trigger the slurping, as well as all the food and diaper changing phrases (including a really cool rare "burp"). You cannot use other utensils. I put several kitchen objects in the mouth and the only things that triggered slurping were the supplied utensils. Sort of interesting is that the bottle triggered slurping only when used in the proper orientation; the spoon works upside down, right side up, but the handle doesn't do anything.
I didn't test the eating and pooping capabilities (just too yucky for me, ok?) but there are lots of people on the internet discussing these issues (the cost of replacing "food" and diapers, cleaning out the doll, the warnings to NOT use real food, etc.). I think it's a perfectly serviceable doll for pretend eating and drinking just using an empty spoon or empty bottle. I personally wouldn't like the ongoing messy hassles of using food and liquid. You decide.
